Using moderation in all aspects of his design, architect Ken Killian has blended a beautiful natural environment with his concepts of traditionalism to create Steeple Chase Golf Club in the horse country of Mundelein. Five sets of tees stretch from 6,827 yards (gold horseshoes) to 4,831 yards (shortest of two ladies tees) on this Par 72 layout that offers great diversity in the length and look of the holes. Bent grass tees, fairways and greens give the course a custom-tailored appearance. Severely tilted greens, true and fast, require approach shots to be placed below the pin locations. The scattered federally protected wetlands add a touch of true midwestern feel to the course. Owned and operated by the Mundelein Park and Recreation District, Steeple Chase includes a full-line pro shop, a comfortable bar and grill, and a patio overlooking the stunning 18th hole.
